Inbox - August 1, 2014

Welcome to this week's Inbox.  For those that have recently discovered us, Inbox is our weekly round up of whisky news and PR material that has found its way in to our email inbox. It was created as we cannot write full articles or do justice to every piece received. It features items from around the world of whisky and is published by us each Friday.

Within Inbox we aim to write a few lines detailing each press release/piece of news/PR event that we have received and provide links, where possible, for you to find out further information.  It's been a bit of a quiet one this week, but here is the news that has caught our attention from this week ...

________

Arran - Devil punches once last time
The Isle of Arran Distillers have announced the final part in their popular Devil's Punch Bowl trilogy.  This third expression, named Fiendish Finale, is a mix of ages which have been matured in ex-Oloroso sherry butts and French oak barriques.  The casks were selected by Master Distiller James MacTaggart and is bottled at the natural strength of 53.4% ABV.  It is non chill filtered and there are just 6,600 bottles available through specialist whisky retailers or via www.arranwhisky.com.  The recommended retail price is £76.99.

Johnnie Walker - Goes to the movies
Last month we wrote about a new short film that was being launched by Diageo for its super premium Johnnie Walker Blue Label blended Scotch.  Entitled The Gentleman's Wager, the film features a man willing to risk everything to attain something that he cannot afford. It has been directed by Jake Scott and is shot in London and the British Virgin Islands. It also features renowned actor Giancarlo Giannini.

We were treated to a preview screening of the film earlier in the week at Diageo's World Class House in Fitzroy Square, London prior to the launch this week (July 30).  So get your popcorn, a dram of whisky and sit back and watch the full film below.
